Weight Inclusive Guide to Fertility

If you've been struggling with infertility, chances are that you may have been either told to lose weight, or given advice to eat some weird and confusing diet. Knowing what we do about the effectiveness (or lack thereof) of weight loss as a health intervention, we can pretty safely say that that's not super helpful. Plus, restricting our diet can be really problematic if we've had a tricky relationship with food.

Trying to manage infertility with a kind, compassionate and weight-inclusive approach can be tough to navigate on your own, so we've created our Weight Inclusive Guide to fertility!

We want to be your advocates in navigating a fatphobic healthcare system, and help you understand your rights, and how you can advocate for yourself to get the treatment and care you deserve.

Unlike what diet culture tries to sell us, there is no magic diet that will boost fertility. What we can help you do though, is sort fact from fiction, giving you a range of realistic and accessible strategies that you can try to help yourself feel a little better, without the pressure to be 'perfect'.

Alongside the advice around gentle nutrition, we’ve also unpacked the impacts of sleep, rest, and movement on fertility, to help you understand things through a more holistic and inclusive lens. We’ve dug deep into the literature to bring you the latest recommendations around supplements, stress management and other alternative therapies, giving a broad range of suggestions so everyone can find what works best for them. ⁣

Finally, we've done our best to make this guide accessible, weight inclusive, and non-judgemental. Everything we provide is a suggestion for you to pick-and-mix the approach that suits you, your body, and your circumstances, whatever that looks like for you right now. This guide is also suitable for people who have a history of an eating disorder or disordered eating.
